The Pakistani government has deployed three military and intelligence officers to help with investigations into the death of their journalist, Arshad Sharif.
“In pursuance of Prime Minister’s office, the following team is constituted to ascertain the facts related to the murder of senior journalist Arshad Sharif,”
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Pakistan’s High Commission in Nairobi shall facilitate the aforementioned visit,” reads the notice dated October 25, 2022.
The three are Athar Waheed, Director /DIG (Police), Omar Shahid Hamid, Deputy Director General, Intelligence Bureau, and Lt. Colonel Saad Ahmed.
Arshad Sharif was shot and killed on the night of October 23, along the Magadi road, in a car driven by his brother Mr Kurram Ahmed.
The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) launched investigations into the shooting with the Chairperson, Ann Makori assuring that the authority had deployed a team to investigate deeper and produce facts of what transpired in Kajiado County on the night of Sunday October 23.
The team of three will travel to Kenya immediately and will submit its report to the Interior Division.
