KTN News Anchor Fathiya Mohamed Nur has announced her exit from Standard Group while sharing her plans to turn the page to a new chapter in her journalism career.
Fathiya in a statement on April 17, 2024, announced the exit expressing both pride and gratitude for the achievements and experiences gained during her time at the station.
“Time for a brand-new story! It’s been almost two years as a News Anchor at KTN News. I’m so, so proud of what I have achieved. Thanking God for leading me through this journey and onto greater things. Excited for the new chapter,” posted Fathiya.
She further highlighted that her breakthrough during her nearly two years at the station was the founding of an international news program at the company which turned out to be successful.
The anchor did not, however, reveal the details of her next steps, with the anticipation building around what the seasoned journalist will tackle next.

Reflecting on her journey, Fathiya pointed out one of her significant accomplishments, which was the creation of the international news program “World Report”.

The program which was born during her tenure quickly became a flagship program at the company earning accolades for its engaging storytelling and comprehensive coverage.
“Key highlight: Birthing my international news program, World Report, which is now a flagship show at KTN News! Thanking God for leading me through this journey and onto greater things. Looking forward for the new chapter!” she added.
The program was launched in February 2024 focusing on Regional and International Affairs and the latest news happening around the world and airs every Wednesday at 8:30PM.
Fathiya also served as the President of Standard Group Women Network, a position she was elected to during her tenure at the station in February this year.

Announcing her new post back in February, she noted that the Network is keen on articulating women’s voices in the workplace as well as providing opportunities for both men and women through Mentorship and leadership training.
“Excited to be the New President of Standard Group Women Network. Also looking forward to telling more positive stories of women on education and leadership,” she posted.
Fathiya Mohamed’s career
Her journalism career began with a role at CGTN in Nairobi, focusing on coordination and media operations from December 2015 to March 2016.
Following her exit from CGTN, she joined Mediamax serving as a business reporter at K24 TV from July 2016 to October 2016.
Fathiya then moved to KTN News for her first stint at Standard Group where she held the position of broadcast journalist and researcher from April 2017 until August 2018.
After her initial tenure at the station, she joined the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) as a journalist and worked there for nearly four years.
Her exit from BBC in June 2022 saw her return to KTN News where she has been serving as a news anchor and reporter.
