Ugandan opposition leader Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu popularly known as Bobi Wine has been put under house arrest amid planned protests against President Yoweri Museveni in Kampala.
Taking to his social media platforms, he said the police surrounded their home and put him together with his family under house arrest.
However, the National Unity Platform (NUP) party vowed to continue with protests to compel the government to develop roads and free political prisoners.
“The cowardly military and police have surrounded our home and put us under house arrest, but the protest is on.
Fix our roads! Free Political Prisoners! Free Uganda!” wrote Bobi Wine.
Bobi Wine Earlier Demands
In a video on Wednesday, January 17, the opposition leader asked Ugandans to take advantage of the ongoing Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Summit in the country to highlight some of the government’s failures.
He demanded Museveni to release all political prisoners, provide missing people and repair poor roads in Uganda.
“Now that the attention of the world is on Uganda because of the NAM Summit, let us use this opportunity to increase the demand for our missing people abducted by the Museveni regime as well as all political prisoners.
Let us also use this opportunity to highlight the mismanagement of our nation, beginning with the potholes on our roads!” said Bobi Wine.
