Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki has condoled with the family of the late County Commissioner Louis Rono, who tragically passed away on Friday, March 22.
Kindiki, while speaking at the home of the deceased in Buttik, Bureti Constituency, Kericho County, mourned alongside the family and community members, acknowledging the significant loss felt by all.
He highlighted the late Rono’s unwavering dedication to his duties and patriotic contributions to national security during their close collaboration.
The CS also shared personal sentiments about his working relationship with Rono, emphasizing the late commissioner’s exceptional work ethic and commitment to service.
He recounted promoting Rono through the ranks due to his outstanding performance and noted his successful efforts in enhancing security in the Lamu region.
“Out of all the 47 County Commissioners we have in the country, the deceased is among the County Commissioners I have worked with frequently.”
“I looked for him in my Ministerial capacity while he was Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) and promoted him up the ranks after hearing about his impeccable work ethic” added the CS.

Kindiki Recounts his Working Relationship with Rono.
The Interior CS commended Mr. Rono and his team for their diligent work, which led to a notable decrease in security threats during the holiday season, a significant achievement for the area.
“In the 17 months we have worked together he has accomplished so much in the efforts to curb insecurity in the Lamu Region. For the first time as the year ended in December, we did not experience any terror attack over Christmas and New Year as was the norm,” stated the CS.
“This time Round Rono and his team worked so hard during that time, and we are very proud of the work they did, in fact from that time we have not had an issue at all. Until when he passed on two days ago that’s when we had an attack.”
Kindiki Pledges to Support the Family
Kithure Kindiki assured the family of government’s support during the period of mourning. He pledged that the government would cover all burial expenses as a mark of respect for the late commissioner’s service and sacrifice.
Additionally, he announced plans to support the widow and four children left behind, ensuring that they receive assistance to fulfill their aspirations as envisioned by the late commissioner.
“The government will cater to all the burial costs, as a way to honor our brother.”
“In that same light, we will also help the widow and children left behind, so that they reach the goals envisioned by the Late Commissioner,” he added.
