President William Ruto’s government has initiated steps to kickstart the tarmacking of the road leading to Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s home in Seikuru.
In a notice dated Tuesday, December 23, 2025, the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) invited bids for the rehabilitation of the road.
“The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) is a state corporation established under the Kenya Roads Act, 2007, with the responsibility for management, development, rehabilitation, and maintenance of national trunk roads. The Authority hereby invites bids from eligible contractors for the tenders to be funded through the Development Votes. There shall be a mandatory pre-tender site visit as specified in the table below,” said KeNHA.

Under Tender Number KeNHA/2924/2025, the authority intends to strengthen the Kandwia–Kyuso Road and upgrade the Kyuso–Tseikuru (852) Road to bitumen standards.
The pre-tender site visit will be conducted on January 15, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Kandwia Shopping Centre, while the tender submission and closing will take place on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Kenya National Highways Authority Headquarters, Barabara Plaza, Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), Nairobi, Off Mazao Road, Block C – 2nd Floor Board Room.

All interested bidders are required to continually check the Kenya National Highways Authority website or the Public Procurement Information Portal for any tender addenda or clarifications that may arise before the submission date.
The advertisement by KeNHA to rehabilitate the road leading to Kalonzo’s home comes days after President William Ruto complained that the road is dusty and neglected, despite Kalonzo’s long service in previous governments under Presidents Daniel Moi and Mwai Kibaki.
Kalonzo Denies Neglecting Rehabilitation of Road Leading to His Home
Speaking at a public function, President Ruto questioned how the Wiper Leader, who is eyeing the presidency in 2027, can transform Kenya if he hasn’t developed the road leading to his own home.
However, Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka issued a direct rebuttal to President Ruto’s claims, stating that he had not failed to build a road to his home.
Kalonzo corrected the President’s timeline, noting that he has been in leadership for 40 years, not 50, framing this period as “40 years of serious experience” rather than neglect.

Kalonzo defended his development record by highlighting that he launched the construction of the Kibwezi–Mutomo–Kitui–Mwingi–Tseikuru–Maua Road while serving as Vice President. He pointed out that this strategic road connects the Port of Mombasa to Ethiopia and was commissioned to the Chinese contractor Sinohydro.
Kalonzo further argued that the road project he initiated in 2011 was “deliberately sabotaged” by elements within the subsequent Jubilee administration, which included then-Deputy President Ruto, who claimed the project was not economically viable.
