Deputy President (DP) Rigathi Gachagua has called out Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Party Leader Julius Malema for interfering with Kenya’s internal affairs.
Speaking during a church service at St Thomas Girls Secondary School in Kilifi, the DP downplayed Malema’s criticism over Kenya Kwanza’s broken promises.
In his statement, he advised Malema to show respect as a visitor and to the government of Kenya.
“I have seen another person coming from South Africa, he doesn’t know Kenya very well and he is already talking about it,” he said.
“I would like to give advice visitors to respect the leadership of their host countries. During my foreign trips, I neither insult the leadership of the host nation or interfere with their politics,” said Gachagua.
Further, the DP mentioned that he visited South Africa in December 2022 and noted that electricity was being rationed by 7 hours.
However, he emphasized that he still did not meddle in South Africa’s affairs out of respect.
“Why visit Kenya if you know that it is a bad country? This guy arrived in Kenya in the morning, and by noon, he had known all the affairs of the country?” Gachagua wondered.

Gachagua was reacting to Malema’s comments on Kenya Kwanza’s failure to fulfill its promises.
Speaking on Thursday, November 9, Malema criticized Kenyan President William Ruto for failing to deliver his campaign promises.
Additionally, the EFF leader stated that it had been difficult to understand Ruto ever since he sworn in as president.
“I don’t know if President William Ruto means it because he said so many things and I can’t locate these days because the things he said during elections and the things he is doing now are two different things,” he said.
Furthermore, Malema accused the President of being dishonest with his fight against the dollar and creation of one African currency.

“I heard him saying that we need to do away with the dollar and build our own currency, but his actions are speaking to anything of eradicating the US dollar,” he explained.
In addition, he asked the President to decide on whether he wants to be Pan Africanist or a proponent of neocolonialism adding he can’t achieve both.
“I don’t know if you’ll regret inviting me after this, but my problem is that I tell my truth as is, and I say it to authorities without fear or favor,” said Malema.
Malema was speaking at the launch of the Pan African Institute in Lukenya University, Kenya.
