King Charles III has broken silence since being diagnosed with cancer on February 5, 2024.
In a statement on Saturday, February 10, Buckingham Palace expressed gratitude to the public for their unwavering support since the news surfaced.
“I would like to express my most heartfelt thanks for the many messages of support and good wishes I have received in recent days,” read the statement in part.
He explained that such kind thoughts are his greatest comfort and encouragement just like other cancer patients.
The King further said it is disturbing to learn that his diagnosis has helped people understand how organizations supporting cancer patients operate.
“It is equally heartening to hear how sharing my own diagnosis has helped promote public understanding and shine a light on the work of all those organizations which support cancer patients and their families across the UK and wider world.
“My lifelong admiration for their tireless care and dedication is all the greater as a result of my own personal experience,” noted the King.
King Charles III Cancer Diagnosis
The Palace said a form of cancer was detected during the King’s hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement.
In a statement, the Family said doctors advised the King to start treatment immediately.
“His Majesty has today commenced a schedule of regular treatments, during which time he has been advised by doctors to postpone public-facing duties.

Throughout this period, His Majesty will continue to undertake State business and official paperwork as usual,” read the statement.
The King thanked his medical team for their swift intervention, which was made possible courtesy of his recent hospital procedure.
“His Majesty has chosen to share his diagnosis to prevent speculation, and, in the hope, it may assist public understanding for all those around the world who are affected by cancer,” said the Royal Family.

Surgery
Buckingham Palace on January 17 announced that the King was scheduled to go to hospital the following week for treatment for an enlarged prostate.
In a statement, The Royal family explained that the King would undergo a corrective procedure as the condition was benign.
“In common with thousands of men each year, the King has sought treatment for an enlarged prostate,” the statement said.
Reports indicated that the King decided to share his diagnosis with the public to encourage other men who may be experiencing symptoms to get checked.
