Why General Ogolla’s Widow Will Go for a Fully Paid KDF Holiday

The widow of the late Chief of Defense Forces (CDF) General Francis Ogolla, Aileen Ogolla is set to go for a fully paid Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) holiday following her husband’s tragic demise.

KDF Vice-CDF General Charles Kahariri revealed that the military would be catering for the trip as part of honoring the late General’s wish.

Kahariri was speaking on April 21, 2024, during the late General Ogolla’s burial ceremony at Obama K’Ogello Primary School in Ngi’ya Village, Siaya County following his tragic demise in a KDF helicopter crash.

The acting CDF made the remarks after General Ogolla’s sister Peris Onyango revealed that her sister-in-law was set to enjoy the trip which was part of the General’s wishes.

According to her, the holiday was part of three things General Ogolla shared with her in the event that he died while in service.

Additionally, the General’s sister noted that her late brother had instructed her to ensure that he was buried within 48 hours.

However, she said that General Ogolla spared her by adding more hours and instead set the timeline to 72 hours as he knew she would not let him be buried too fast.

“He told me, a soldier can die anytime so if I die, I need to be buried within 48 hours. I said what do you mean? He told me, I know you can add them more problems so let me add you some hours to become 72 hours,” she noted.

Onyango further revealed that the General had shown her where he was to be buried in case of his demise.

She eulogized the late as a special child in their family saying that their mother really loved him more than the rest.

“He was not beaten when the rest of us were beaten. My brother is a kind man, he is a loyal man very dedicated Christian and a leader of God. He walked the talk and did his best,” she revealed.

Burial of the CDF

Onyango was speaking during the burial ceremony of the late CDF where President William Ruto is leading the nation in bidding farewell to the military chief.

The General died in a helicopter crash on April 18, 2024, in Elgeyo Marakwet County alongside nine other officers.

General Ogolla’s interment is strictly set to adhere to his wishes, including being buried without a coffin.

His casket was removed from the hearse and placed on a gun carrier before making a brief stop for his father, Mzee Joel Oyeyo to pay his last respect.

Mzee Oyeyo, who marked his 100-year-old celebration on Saturday could not attend his son’s state funeral in Nairobi.
