Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has asked deputy president Rigathi Gachagua why he did not stop President William Ruto from delivering his speech to Kenya.
Sifuna’s sentiments comes as a rejoinder to DP Gachagua’s statement that Azimio leader Raila Odinga should first recognize William Ruto as President before any dialogue.
While speaking during an interview with NTV, the Nairobi Senator opined that Gachagua was right beside Ruto when he was addressing the nation asking Azimio leader Raila Odinga to call off the bi-weekly protests, but he did not stop him from making the call.
“Mbona Gachagua hakukataza Rais kusoma taarifa ambayo alisomea taifa?” Sifuna posed?

“Sisi hatukua State House, wakati Rais alikua anasoma taarifa kwa Taifa, tutamskiza William Ruto kama kiongozi wa Taifa, ni yeye alianza haya mazungumzo,” he added.
Moreover, the deputy president over the weekend stated that the Kenya Kwanza administration will only engage Raila Odinga after he has publicly recognized the legitimacy of William Ruto’s presidency.
According to Gachagua, the issue of a discussion should not even arise because the opposition leader said he does not recognize Ruto as the legitimate president.
“Before we can even agree to talk to him, he must first acknowledge in public that President Ruto is the president of Kenya. They reached out to President Ruto on Saturday, sent him somebody and said we have come to the end, the international community has abandoned us, people are against us the church we want to call off this demonstration,” he stated
“Can you please give us an exit strategy, the president said it’s okay, no problem go to Parliament and discuss with Kimani Ichung’wah and others and say what your issues are, those people to listen and make a decision.” Added the DP.
