Police in Bomet County are pursuing a man who killed his two children, a niece and a domestic worker before fleeing on the night of Friday, March 1.
Deputy Police Commander of Bomet Central sub-county, Ali Bashir revealed that the victims comprised of the man’s two-year-old daughter, 16-year-old son, eight-year-old niece and 16-year-old house help.
The suspect reportedly carrying a machete, entered his house and attacked the four minors who succumbed to injuries after excessive bleeding.
In addition, Ali Bashir confirmed to the media that the suspect went into hiding after the committing the crime.

“Upon receipt of the information, police had moved swiftly to the scene and necessary action taken.
The suspect upon committing the heinous act fled the scene and the motive of the assailant could not be easily established,” said the police boss.
He has further said that investigations had kicked off to establish the circumstances around the horrific occurrence.
“The subcounty criminal investigation officer, Mr. Omwenga is hotly pursuing crucial leads and will ensure the suspect is brought to book,” noted Mr. Ali Bashir.

According to the police, the 45-year-old man committed the heinous act while his wife was at away.
The bodies of the deceased were moved to the Tenwek Hospital mortuary for preservation pending autopsy.

Subsequently, on February 25, a 28-year-old man attacked four family members and killed them before being apprehended.
According to reports, the suspect murdered his pregnant wife and six-year-old son with a machete while they were asleep.

He then proceeded to fatally assault his 70-year-old uncle and the uncle’s wife, who attempted to intervene.
After the horrific ordeal, he fled into a nearby sugarcane plantation, leaving residents in shock and fear.
He was later arrested and arraigned in Tamu law courts in Muhoroni.
Resident Magistrate Maureen Olonyi allowed police to detain the suspect for 21 days at the Koru police station.
Furthermore, the Court directed that the case be mentioned on March 18, 2024.
